What's your idea of excitement?

This big fellow reminded me to the song from Peter Pan that says, "Never smile at the crocodile...Don't be taken in by his welcome grin."

Well, you get the idea. This one is actually an alligator and the photo was taken last month in Florida – without a telephoto lens. (Apparently, they prefer toy poodles...)

When it comes to excitement, I prefer the tamer varieties. You know, like finding the perfect shoes, on sale. Or, standing back and surveying a painting I've just spent many hours creating and knowing that it's perfect.

My uncle, Neil Bryant, however, usually has other ideas about excitement. In our story, Picking up the Pieces, for example, he had me racing around several countries keeping only one or two steps ahead of some pretty nasty characters with equally nasty intentions (not to mention that they carried guns).

When we went in search of The Glass Dolphin, my acquaintance with the jungles of Peru far outstripped my desire to experience that kind of excitement. But, a woman's got to do what a woman's got to do. So, my kind of excitement turns out to be whatever God puts in my path.

Never a dull moment!
