Who am I?

Picture
My name is Jill Moss and I'm a fictional character. Yes, I'm the creation of my author's imagination.

In truth, I am the alter-ego of my creator, author Wendy Dewar Hughes. (Really, she wants to be me.)

The two of us actually have a lot in common. We're both professional artists. I paint commissioned portraits and sell my original paintings in galleries. Wendy has been there and done that then moved on to other artistic endeavours like licensing her artwork for giftware companies to apply to their products and creating amazing book cover designs. (You can find out more about her on her own website here.)

She writes while I mostly paint, read, study God's word and am "on call" when my uncle, the venerable archaeologist, Neil Bryant, requires my help. My author has no such uncle but since she has always had a fascination with archaeology and ancient cultures, as well as a yen to go somewhere at the drop of a tote bag, she writes about those things so I get to do them while she stays home and types a lot.

I am (perpetually) forty-two years old, have thick shoulder-length dark hair. I live with my canary, Pianissimo, in a village near the west coast. That last part seems irrelevant since in my books I travel to exotic places around the world most of the time. I was married but my husband passed away after a tragic bicycle accident a few years ago. I have two children who have both now left home.

I like my life to be an adventure, especially in the spiritual sense. I'm a Jesus-follower to the end since getting to know Him is the greatest adventure there is. You'll find my fascination with the spiritual life pops up in the books where different themes appear.

In my last book, Picking up the Pieces, you can learn all about that and much more. Join us today while we head off to Peru to search for The Glass Dolphin.

I've included this photo of me at the beach because I love the sea, which is why I'm calling my new club, the Society of Everyday Adventurers, or SEA. Clever, yes?

Be sure to join the Society of Everyday Adventurers by filling in the form on the right. We have some interesting ideas we're working on and you don't want to miss out. Don't worry about being swamped with e-mails. That won't happen. What will happen is I'll keep you informed about new books, events, travels, photos and fun Society products.

Reader Comment on Picking up the Pieces

"Wendy Dewar Hughes pens a harrowing escapade jetting and driving from one exotic locale to the next; danger lurking at every turn. Not knowing whom she can trust; even the man she falls in love with, she must rely solely on her finely tuned gift for hearing and discerning the voice of the Holy Spirit. Thus, she is supernaturally guided to the journey's end. Riveting. Highly recommended."
